Single use rentals of Veasey Memorial Park
While Veasey is a public property, it is possible to privately reserve areas, both inside and outside, for an event. Most of our rentals are made for one or more rooms on the inside of the Main Building. The Main Building is a large and flexible space, 9,000 square feet in total size, consisting of two wings. To the west, the rooms are built around the original Bungalow home. Most of the space there has an historical, residential feel to it. To the east are the more institutional areas, consiting of the Great Hall (a former chapel) and the function room with large kitchen beneath it. What happens when you rent at Veasey? If you want to rent a space at Veasey, you should first contact the Office and make sure that the space you want is available on the day you need it. If you have never been to Veasey before, we recommend that you see the place before making a decision about renting. Once you know what you need, you will need to submit a Single Use Application form along with either your damage deposit and/or rental fee to confirm the reservation. Note that we will not cash the damage deposit check until after the event, and only then if necessary. If you want to serve alcohol at your event, that is fine, but you will need to apply for a liquor permit from the Groveland Board of Selectmen. The rental form tells you how to do this. Prior to your event, you will be given a key to let yourself in. After your event, you are responsible for cleaning up after yourself and returning the key. Assuming there are no problems, the voided damage deposit check will be returned to you. What types of events work best at Veasey? While Veasey is a very attractive place, it is also very informal. Family parties are very successful here - birthdays, anniversaries, showers, etc. We also have hosted quite a few weddings - keep in mind that we offer you a church with no religion attached! Folks who enjoy the outdoors, who like doing things themselves, and who understand that their rental dollars help keep this wonderful place going all seem to have a great time up here. Business meetings Veasey can also be a very flexible meeting venue for your workplace. We have wireless internet throughout the building, basic meeting equipment, and we can be easily set up for classroom, plenary/breakout, or auditorium style meetings. Please note that the best size for this type of use would be around 100 people, but there are ways you could configure your event to make a larger group comfortable. Again, we encourage you to come see the space and decide if it will work for you. While Veasey might not seem to be a conventional location for business meetings, it can provide both a relaxing and creative environment. With our woods and meadow trails, waterfront access, and inspiring "Arts and Crafts" architectural legacy, we can promise a good workout for your "right brain".
