Programme

  "Back to the Land"

The Clan MacLeod Parliament in 2018 will take place in and around Dunvegan from the 21st to the 28th of July. The theme for this Parliament is "Back to the Land." It will offer those attending an opportunity to reflect on from where their ancestors came, how that place is faring today, and its prospects for the future.

Parliament is for the whole family

Younger clansfolk will be well catered to, with trips and activities arranged each day for little MacLeods, as well a pre-Parliament work week for the North Room Group (NRG). NRG is for MacLeods and friends aged between 18 and (approximately) 30. See North Room Group for more information.

If you haven't attended a Parliament before, you don't need to worry. You will be greeted with typical highland hospitality and made to feel part of our great MacLeod family - literally. If you talk with anyone who has attended Clan MacLeod Parliament at Dunvegan before, you will hear of life-changing experiences of clansfolk who feel that they have finally "come home."

Dunvegan programme

The activities in Dunvegan will be preceded by a trip to the Hebridean islands of Harris and Lewis for a lucky group of 52 people, organised by Kevin Tolmie. Please click on Harris and Lewis for more information.

The programme for Parliament in Dunvegan (see below) will be reasonably familiar to those who have attended before. Trips will be organised to significant MacLeod landmarks, including Dunvegan Castle, Raasay House, Boreraig Cairn and MacLeod's Tables. Throughout the week, there will be an eclectic mix of activities taking place in Dunvegan Village Hall, ranging from singing, dancing and piping to the infamous Midge Drive. In all this there will still be plenty of time for socialising, making new friends and renewing old acquaintances.

For those of a more serious bent, there will be morning meetings led by the Associated Clan MacLeod Societies, where issues affecting the Clan today will be discussed. Everyone at Parliament is welcome to attend.

Please note that while every effort will be made to keep to the published programme, there may be circumstances that arise which require changes.
