Parliament 2018 Harris and Lewis programme

[15-Jun-18] Making accommodation reservations on Harris and Lewis, from this point forward.
Please note that while there are still a few openings for the "Gold" package, because we are nearing the busy summer season our hotels will no longer keep rooms open for our Harris and Lewis tour. If you register for the Parliament Harris and Lewis tour, you must make your own accommodation arrangements directly with your hotel.

[06-Dec-17] Ferry information for the pre-Parliament trip to Harris and Lewis.
The summer timetable for the ferry to Harris/Lewis is now available and can be found at www.calmac.co.uk. The "Interactive map" on this website can be used to view all ferry routes. Ferries to Tarbert on Harris are grouped with the "Outer Hebrides" routes.

The following advice applies to those of you who will be travelling as part of the "Gold Package."
  • If you are driving in your own vehicle, you are most likely to sail from Uig on Skye to Tarbert on Harris. For those of you driving your own vehicle, please book onto your desired ferry as soon as possible.
  • As foot passengers, you will not able to book your ferry passage in advance. You must purchase your ticket from Uig on Skye to Tarbert on Harris at the Uig ferry terminal.
  • Foot passengers should purchase return ("round trip") tickets, departing Uig on 18 July at 14:10, arrving in Tarbert at 15:50. Our tour bus will meet the ferry when it arrives in Tarbert.
  • We expect our tour members to return to Skye on the ferry departing from Tarbert on 21 July at 12:10, arriving in Uig at 13:50. The Tarbert ferry is within walking distance of the hotels where we will be staying. Arrangements can be made for baggage transfer from the hotel to the ferry, if required.

The Clan MacLeod returns again to Harris and Lewis

By popular demand, there will be a tour of Harris and Lewis immediately before Parliament 2018. To a great extent, this tour will follow the itinerary of the popular pre-Parliament tour of 2006 led by Anne and Ruari Halford-MacLeod.

You may now book onto the 2018 tour. There are two options for the tour:
•   the "Gold" option, and
•   the "A la carte" option.

Bookings on what we are calling the "Gold" option are regrettably limited to 52. This limit is based on the bus seats available and other capacity limits based on the real world, physical options. However, if you not allocated a "Gold" place you may still have the option to participate in individual elements of the tour, including the Clan dinner and the ceilidh. The individually priced elements are itemised under the payment options on the Booking page. Tickets to these other events are also limited, and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served-basis.

"Gold" tour option

The "Gold" package includes transport by coach to and from named origination points on Harris and Lewis for the excursions on Thursday and Friday. It also includes two dinners, two lunches, a ceilidh, and entry fees to named exhibits.

Please note that although accommodation spaces will have been reserved for you, it is your responsibility to book and pay with the hotels, once your place on has been allocated. As soon as we have confirmed your reservation, please contact the hotels to book as soon as you are awarded your accomodation.

Please also note that it is also your responsibility to book your place on the ferry to and from our entry port, Tarbert, sailing from Uig on Skye).

"A la carte" tour option

If you are not allocated a spot or do not wish to book onto the Gold option, then you can still participate. Bookings will be taken for individual elements of the tour. Again, places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
